JISTAR announced an investment of Rs 33,000 crore during the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (Waves) (via) Vice-Chairperson Uday Shankar of the company gave information about this while speaking at the Waves Summit. He said that in just 3 years (2024, 2025 and 2026) the company is going to spend 10 billion dollars (about 8 trillion rupees).

He said that when the media company is spending, its investment is only for Indian consumers, for their tests, and for their needs. The investment of the company is only for Indian audiences and this investment will also be recovered from India. He highlighted the importance of developing India’s story-tailing ecosystem rather than depending on global content. That is, there is immense possibilities of content in India itself that there is no need for global content here.

He further said that the current business models of advertising and membership in the market have become old. There has been no major innovation in the field in the media and entertainment industry for many years. He emphasized that the industry needs a new approach to monitization, which will help Indian media companies gain larger valuation than global veterans like Netflix and Tencent. On this occasion, Vivek Couto, Management and Executive Director of Media Partners ASIA, said that the value of the Indian media industry is $ 30 billion, compared to $ 200 billion in the US and $ 75 billion in China.

On the other hand, Giostar aims to deliver content including Tier-1 cities in India to Tier-2, Tier-3, and Tier-4 cities. Because Tier-3, and especially for Tier-4 cities, currently has a huge scope of content creation and rechability that remains to be filled.
